"Hail, son of God!"

The recognition and acceptance of man as the son of God has an important part in the healing of sin, disease, and war. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes: "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." Science and Health, pp. 476, 477;

What a tremendous challenge this is to each one of us! It certainly does not mean that we are to ignore evil, but it does mean that we are to separate evil from identity. We must see ourselves and our neighbor not as sick, sinning, warring mortals, but as the children of God. "Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?" Mal. 2:10: we are asked in the book of Malachi.

A Christian Scientist was riding one day on a New York City subway train. She had always been quick to judge people according to certain guidelines of education and culture. But in Christian Science she had learned to see herself and her fellowmen as the sons and daughters of God and silently to greet each one with the salutation, "Hail, son of God!"
