A number of years ago, after my two sisters and I had enjoyed a family dinner party in a local restaurant, my older sister, whose hands were covered with warts and who at that time was not interested in Christian Science, mentioned how very self-conscious and ashamed she felt because of their appearance. She confided that she was sure those sitting at a nearby table had noticed her hands, and she seemed to entertain a great sense of humiliation.
We were seated at the dinner table when she mentioned it, and previous to this conversation she had tried any number of material remedies that friends had offered, but to no avail. As she related her feelings, a flood tide of love and compassion pervaded my thought, and each negative statement she made was rejected and replaced with the truth in a simple conversation of assurance. No specific prayerful work was done; only the word of Truth, God, was spoken, and the matter was dropped. Two days later at the dinner table she said: "I want you to see my hands. They are perfectly smooth and free from every wart." She was very happy that this unsightly difficulty had been eradicated. The experience of seeing a healing take place so quickly through the spoken word of Truth was one of deep joy to me.
The members of my family and I have had physical healings of pneumonia, colds, a broken arm, sprains, and an internal growth. I am grateful for all the blessings that Christian Science has brought into my experience, and it gives me great joy to be a member of The Mother Church, to serve actively in a branch church, and to have had the inspiration of class instruction and its resultant spiritualization of thought and growth in grace.
