Christ Is the Way

What is the way to heaven, harmony? Through ages men have asked this question in various words. We hear voiced, What is the way to peace? What is the way to Security? What is the way to health? What is the way to happiness? Many material modes and human plans have been suggested and tried in the attempt to answer these questions, but they have failed. Only one way has stood the test of time and been proven infallible. It is the Christ, the Way Jesus demonstrated in solving the problems that confronted him.

Over nineteen centuries ago Christ Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6; Not only did he make this statement of truth, but he and his disciples proved it to be true by overcoming every type of human discord. It is imperative today that we, as Christians, understand our Master's words and repeat his works. Certainly our world needs this saving and healing influence.

To understand "the way," as Jesus did, we must first understand what he meant when he said, "I am the way." In the textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes: "The Christ was the Spirit which Jesus implied in his own statements: 'I am the way, the truth, and the life;' 'I and my Father are one.' This Christ, or divinity of the man Jesus, was his divine nature, the godliness which animated him. Divine Truth, Life, and Love gave Jesus authority over sin, sickness, and death. His mission was to reveal the Science of celestial being, to prove what God is and what He does for man." Science and Health, p. 26;
