Success Requires Action

Any successful man is an active man, even by the world's standards, since to attain anything there must be decisive action. This is what separates successful people from those who never quite seem to make the grade. Successful people are able to make up their minds and then take action.

Are Christian Scientists active Christians? Have they made up their minds? Only if they take action through spiritual means to attain the standard Christ Jesus held up for all mankind. Paul spoke of this standard in Ephesians when he wrote that we shall "all come in the unity of the faith... unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." Eph. 4:13; Perfection is the godly standard demanded by every specific injunction of the Bible. Each of these injunctions, from the Decalogue on through the Sermon on the Mount, demands action on our part if we are to be "doers of the word, and not hearers only." James 1:22;

Doing, for a Christian, involves the factor of prayer, or communication with God. In scientific prayer one must realize the nature of God as divine Mind, or Soul, and the nature of man as God's expression, and clear realization is a step in action. The inspiration we receive through our prayers guides what we do and takes away the mortal fear of chance and misfortune, which hovers over mortals, threatening failure. This very truth, that God does guide us when we are in communication with Him, should encourage us to be more active Christians.
