My love for Christian Science has extended...

My love for Christian Science has extended over a period of some forty years. Although my grandparents were students of this religion and my grandmother and aunt helped others by healing, my parents did not embrace it. My father was a very religious man; but he thought Christian Science was just a healing cult and so refused to allow my grandmother and aunt to talk to us children about Science. I had never been satisfied with what I had learned, but I read the Bible daily and learned much of it by heart.

When I went away to college, I heard a minister preaching against Christian Science. After that, my roommate and I attended a Christian Science church. Thus began my study of Science.

In the years that followed, one experience stands out vividly. Our daughter and her husband were visiting at our home. I had seen many caterpillar webs on some of our shrubs and knew that when the insects came out of their webs they would be all over our yard. My daughter and I decided to burn the webs. We took matches and newspaper and went to the top of our big hill. There were no trees where we started to burn the webs, but the burning paper fell on the grass and immediately started burning the grass all around. I had a rake, and she had the newspapers. She began pounding the flames, and I raked so the fire wouldn't spread any further.
