When my husband and I learned of Christian Science, I was to human belief at the end of my physical and mental strength and no longer equal to the tasks which life had given me. A single treatment from a practitioner brought a complete change. The almost uninterrupted state of exhaustion and depression disappeared. I could joyfully attend to my household and my children once again, and my husband and I resolved from then on to rely on Christian Science.

After a short time our faith was put to a hard test. I injured the end of my spinal column. The pain was severe. I became unconscious and did not regain consciousness until after I had been placed on a couch. Since my husband could not stay home with me, I was alone until evening and tried to apply everything that I already understood of the teachings of Christian Science. As I lay entirely still, gradually the pain stopped.

Tn the evening my husband wanted to get me to bed, but the slightest motion or change of position caused unbearable pain. On account of special circumstances my husband was not able to reach a practitioner until the afternoon of the next day, so I had to remain on the couch for the night and also the next morning.
