"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;...
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;... they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" (Isa. 40:31). It is my privilege to testify to the truth of this statement, and I hope that the following may offer encouragement to others.
For some time I was burdened with much work and responsibility, which resulted in a condition which, though not diagnosed by a physician, appeared to border upon a nervous breakdown. Weariness, depression, extreme fear, and various physical disturbances were my constant companions, though I struggled to rise above them.
At the darkest moment of the experience, I was asked to sing a challenging solo part, as well as choral parts, in an oratorio to be presented in two months. My first reaction to this invitation was that it would be foolish to attempt anything requiring so much time, energy, and strength when I seemed barely able to carry on my present duties. However, I consented to consider the request.
