I had heard of Christian Science for many years; and among my relatives, healings had taken place through the application of this religion, but I was not ready to recognize it or to be concerned with it. Social drinking and smoking gave me special pleasure. "Why should I concern myself with religion?" I asked myself, since I was happy and content.
I had married young, had two children and a good job. My existence seemed secure, yet I was soon to learn of a better one.
