In the latter part of June, 1963, I paid my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner. I had been confined to a hospital about twelve times in a ten-year period prior thereto. My illnesses were many, and the physician told me they were all incurable but could be alleviated by the continuous use of various medical means.
One ailment was extreme anemia, another was a liver complaint for which a very strict diet was prescribed, and there was a spinal condition which caused severe backaches and necessitated my wearing a brace.
Upon arriving home after my first visit to the practitioner, I threw away about twenty dollars' worth of drugs and discarded the brace. The healings did not come immediately. My many talks with the practitioner, who gave me prayerful treatment and inspiration, not only brought about a gradual healing, but helped me to grow in the understanding of Christian Science, for which I am exceedingly grateful.
