About twenty-six years ago a friend, who was a Christian Scientist, gave me prayerful treatment which resulted in the healing of a stomach disorder. I had never heard of Christian Science before, but I listened and gratefully accepted her aid.

I took no further interest in Science at that time, and after some years I spent two different sessions of about two years each in a sanatorium. I had tuberculosis. The second time, after having gone through a serious operation with no assurance from the doctors that I would be completely well, I started studying the Bible, especially the healings of Jesus. In Matthew we read (7:7), "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
