"Mind alone possesses all faculties, perception, and comprehension."

"Mind alone possesses all faculties, perception, and comprehension." This statement on page 488 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was a great help to me in my first grade at school. I had trouble reading and was therefore placed in the lowest group of my class. My mother and I knew, however, that I could express only the true qualities of Mind, which I reflected, and therefore I could not be limited in my intelligence and comprehension. Gradually my reading improved until I reached the top group. I had no more trouble reading after that.

A few years ago a somewhat alarming lump developed on my neck. It did not bother me very much, so I ignored it. One day, though, my schoolteacher noticed the lump and told me to report to the school nurse immediately. I was then sent home as the condition was believed to be infectious. Finally I was able to return to school when I had received a statement from a doctor with the affirmation that the condition was not infectious or contagious. However, the doctor was disturbed when my parents and I would not submit to having the lump lanced.

Throughout this time I was having the help of a Christian Science practitioner. While the condition did not seem to improve, I never doubted God's healing power. In fact, during this experience my understanding of Christian Science increased greatly. One night I was continuing to read Science and Health and suddenly noticed that the lump was draining. Within a few weeks I was completely healed.
