Continuing progress and rich blessings which have flowed to me...
Continuing progress and rich blessings which have flowed to me through the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science for a long period of time impel my desire to relate briefly some of the experiences which have marked this progress.
An unpromising background, a lack of formal education, and the loss of my parents at an early age seemed to place me at a severe disadvantage. Envy at the progress and success of others gnawed at me and afflicted me greatly, since it seemed that I was not only untalented but also, in the world's eyes, unlucky in my lot as a humble employee in what was considered a dead-end job.
I became a prey to vicious propaganda and even imagined I was justified in giving as little as possible to my employers while taking as much as possible from them, since I was persuaded that my employers had no regard for me excepting as a means to enrich themselves while giving me as little as possible.
