Before becoming an earnest student of Christian Science, I witnessed...
Before becoming an earnest student of Christian Science, I witnessed many outstanding healings in my home. When I accepted a position in a western city, my roommate was a student of Christian Science. While alone one day, I borrowed her copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The reading of this book brought the permanent healing of a severe case of hay fever. A few years after this healing I became a more earnest student. Divine protection and guidance in choosing right positions brought useful service in business.
Dental problems have been solved by Christian Science. A few years ago, while visiting the dentist, I was told that an infection had caused a part of the jawbone to deteriorate. I called a practitioner, and in a very short time the bone was restored completely. Mrs. Eddy's words given on page 162 of Science and Health are illustrated by this healing: "Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness."
Another outstanding healing was that of a serious throat disease. One of the difficulties which had to be overcome in this case was the persistent aggressive suggestion of cancer, although, of course, no physical diagnosis was ever made. This experience forced me to reach out for a more spiritual consciousness and also to rely entirely on God as the only healer of discord. For a more comforting understanding of man's being and its true purpose—to reflect the one Mind, God—I am thankful.
