Perfection the Goal
Mankind in general appear to be satisfied with something far short of excellence. In school, government, and even in the churches, progress of an inferior quality is frequently tolerated, although excellence should be the goal of men.
Conformity to low standards is not Christlike. Excellence is the forerunner of perfection, and perfection was the only standard recognized by Christ Jesus. He looked for and saw perfection; otherwise he could not have healed mankind. His healing work was frequent and consistently successful.
When Peter's mother-in-law lay "sick of a fever"1 Jesus approached the sufferer "and he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them." He not only healed the woman but enabled her to resume her customary duties at once. That same evening many people were brought to him, and he "healed all that were sick."
