RADIO PROGRAM NO. 247 - The Promise of Christmas That Cannot Fade

Announcer: To a world challenged by war, racial strife, poverty, the promise of Christmas may seem far removed from conditions of everyday life. And yet, the hope of a world governed by the spirit of peace on earth and good will toward men, has never left human hearts; it continues to live as a goal to be attained.

Questioner: Often the spirit of peace and goodwill gets lost in the superficial swirl of the holiday— the bright lights and tinsel, the general excitement of the holiday season. I wonder what you think we can do to help find a more genuine spirit of Christmas, one that will last throughout the year?

Speaker: The deep Scriptural basis of Christmas offers hope to all who yearn for lasting peace and goodwill, the real spirit of Christmas you referred to. That simple but profound basis is indicated right in the nativity account in the Bible (Luke 2:14), "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
