I wish to express gratitude for the protection all of my family experienced through the 1964 earthquake in Alaska. None of our relatives or employees were injured (although one building collapsed), and very little damage was suffered in any of their homes. I think I was most grateful for the fact that no one panicked and that everyone went about calmly getting things back in order. As soon as I found that my two daughters, their husbands, and six young children were safe, I turned my help to my husband, who went to stand guard through the night at his store, which had sunk twenty feet into the ground.

It would take pages to describe the next few weeks, but I can say that I did not start my day without turning to God by studying the Lesson-Sermon, provided for us in the Christian Science Quarterly, and at the same time wondering how people who knew nothing of this Science could get along at a time like this without it.

The intervening period has been spent in relocating our two businesses, our home, and adjusting our lives in general to realize that all was not lost because of the disappearance of our new commercial building from the main street of Anchorage.
