Pinnacle (Matt. 4:5)
The Greek word means literally "little wing." If reference is made to a portion of the temple in a literal sense, it might describe the top of "Solomon's porch" (John 10:23) or of the royal porch, which, according to Josephus, apparently overlooked "a dizzy abyss"; or again it might simply mean the highest point of the main temple itself. Phillips refers to "the highest ledge of the Temple."
