In his somewhat wry and bemused article on the centennial of Christian Science appearing in the Sunday Journal,. . . . the writer discussed several items on which it seems only fair to add a comment or two.

No thoughtful person passes oil the sorrows and pain of the world as "merely illusion"—that is. some sort of simple technical error to be set right by a mental twist or turn. But Bible writers and many other perceptive people have observed that there are moments when one sees beyond the immediate human situation and catches an inspiring glimpse of selfless love or of pure spiritual joy. As St. Paul said it, "For now we see through a glass, darkly: but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known" (I Cor. 13:12).
