Christian Science has been an...
Christian Science has been an unfailing source of security to me for as long as I can remember. As a child I was not often able to attend a Christian Science Sunday School because my family lived in a small midwestern town which was some distance from a Church of Christ, Scientist.
But I shall always be grateful to my mother, for through her example I learned to love Christian Science and to study regularly the weekly Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly. She taught me to turn to God in praise and gratitude when things were going well and to know Him as "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1).
My first great trial came with her passing when I was at the age of fourteen. My clinging to the truth at this time and my careful study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, not only healed me of grief but made me more aware of God's motherhood, so that ever since I have seen it expressed in many wonderful ways. Later I felt this guidance when the thought of marriage and a home of my own led me to one who is also a Christian Scientist.
