Although I was being brought up in Christian Science by my mother, my childhood was very unhappy because there was bitter opposition to Christian Science in the family and a denial of religious freedom. My mother always taught me to turn away from imperfect, mortal concepts and to love God's man, His perfect idea. Subsequently I married, and eleven years later the marriage appeared to be breaking up. Also I began to lose my hair.
