A Provision for Progress

Mary Baker Eddy made many provisions for the progress of students of Christian Science, and association meetings following class instruction are among the more important. These yearly meetings enrich the lives of the students; in them the teacher expands and develops the metaphysical points taught during the two weeks of class. An association meeting also gives the teacher an opportunity to show the students how to apply the truths of divine Science to the problems of the times, as well as to correct any metaphysical mistakes the students may have wandered into.

Infinite Science unfolds infinitely, and fresh views of Truth are constantly communicated to mankind through Science. Like the springtime, an association meeting should make the understanding of Science bloom anew; it should refresh the students with spiritual energies that strengthen their purpose to help and heal humanity. Through Science, Spirit impels a life of ever-developing service to God and to mankind.

Writing of the joy of springtime as it illustrates man's infinite possibilities, Mrs. Eddy says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 330): "It is good to talk with our past hours, and learn what report they bear, and how they might have reported more spiritual growth. With each returning year, higher joys, holier aims, a purer peace and diviner energy, should freshen the fragrance of being."
