The Mother's Demonstration of Stability

Members of a family often turn to the mother for encouragement, comfort, and help in solving all kinds of problems. The mother is often the central figure of family life. However, a personal sense of her obligations may cause her to break down under the pressures of the demands of the family. It requires a great deal of stabilizing, unselfed love, derived from Truth, to meet these demands. Where can a mother turn for this spiritual strength?

Reliance upon the motherhood of God as the source of stability and love enables a mother to meet with quiet assurance all obligations to her loved ones. No sense of martyrdom or hurt feelings can touch such a God-inspired thought. A mother's greatest means of strengthening her family is her own God-inspired demonstration of pure motherhood, the application of pure, spiritual mother-love to each human situation as it arises.

The immortal foundation of all true relationship was first referred to by Christ Jesus when he said, "Whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother" (Matt. 12:50). To be a true mother requires doing the will of God. And doing; the will of God with regard to her family begins with the fulfilling of the command urged by Christ Jesus (Matt. 19:19), "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
