At Home in God's Omnipresence
Today, in an increasingly mobile society, it may seem that home is not as stable or enduring an institution as it once was. It is true that many families and individuals are finding it necessary to establish new homes in strange surroundings, perhaps not once but many times. Under such circumstances the Christian Scientist finds comfort and strength in his understanding of God's omnipresence, that is, in God's presence everywhere at all times.
Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 471), "God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence." Since God is ever present, there is no place where man can be separated from Him. As a loved hymn puts it (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 66), "None can beyond Thy omnipresence stray."
Mobility and change of outward surroundings afford the Christian Scientist a splendid opportunity to establish in consciousness a firm understanding of God's allness and of man's indestructible relationship to Him as His child. This enables the Scientist to demonstrate composure and stability wherever he may be.
