Loving God Supremely
The phrase "loving God supremely" falls easily from the lips. But it must mean more than a beautiful sentiment to us, or it will not be contributing to our well-being.
Do we really love God supremely? Do we truly believe that He is the only cause, the only creator, and that everything He brings about is always beautiful and harmonious and completely good—as He Himself has said it is? Do we love Him supremely so that we believe that only what He has said is true? Do we really believe therefore that there is no other creation, no other possibility than that which reflects His nature?
If there is unhappiness somewhere in our experience—a sick body, a sick home, a sick business —we might ask ourselves if we have been loving God supremely. Have we been believing enough in the truth of what He has said to want above all else to show forth our complete trust in the fact that He, and He alone, governs every area of our lives without fail and without exception?
