WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST
[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on August 2, 1964.]
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them (Isa. 63:9)
Some scholars contend that "in all their affliction" belongs properly to verse 8, and Moffatt translates, from an alternative form of the Hebrew text: "He proved himself their saviour in all their adversity. It was no envoy and no angel, 'twas his own Presence saved them." Both Smith and Kent offer similar renderings.
Whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause (Matt. 5:22)
