I should like to express my...
I should like to express my gratitude in our periodicals for the priceless gift of Christian Science that Mrs. Eddy has left to mankind. As evidence of the practical application of its teachings, I should like to relate one of the healings I have experienced through Science.
In 1962 a patch of rough skin appeared on my face. At first I did not pay any attention to it. Then I discovered the same symptoms on a number of my cows. Within a very short time the disease had become alarming. I asked a dear friend and practitioner for help in Science. But one day before our prayers had begun to take effect, the condition was greatly aggravated, and several people said I must have medical treatment at once.
I asked myself, "Do you want to consult a doctor or rely on God?" At that moment Mrs. Eddy's statement came to me, "What God cannot do, man need not attempt" (Science and Health, p. 231). I also pondered a verse from Hymn No. 374 in the Christian Science Hymnal:
