Christian Science came to my attention through a book I borrowed from a public library. Because of the sudden loss of one of our children through sickness, I was greatly shaken. Well-meaning relatives and friends said that it was God's will that he had been taken from us, but I could not accept this. The words, "God is Love," kept coming to me, and I wondered how God could have had anything to do with the death of a little child if He were Love.

It was after about a year of mental turmoil and unrest, in which I read many books on religions and different philosophies, seeking I knew not what, that I came across a book that explained something about the teachings of Christian Science. I was immediately interested and started to watch on television the program, then current, "How Christian Science Heals." This further aroused my interest; so I purchased a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from the nearest Christian Science Reading Room.
