When a young man, living far...

When a young man, living far away from family and home ties, I had a longing to know more of God than my Sunday School and a church of orthodox faith had taught me.

While living in various guest homes, I was attracted to people who were students of Christian Science, a religion entirely unheard of by me before that time. I was invited to a Christian Science lecture to be given in a large sports arena auditorium. Hard wooden benches were provided for the overflow area in which we sat, yet I became so absorbed in the inspiring message that the hour passed quickly with no discomfort from the hard seat. I felt so uplifted that I turned to my friend and said, "If this is Christian Science, it is for me.'"

The daily study of the Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, which includes citations from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, along with the study of her other writings and the Christian Science literature, has unfolded to me a practical understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him which has met my every need for the past thirty-five years or more.
