I am grateful beyond words for the healing, transforming power of God, expressed through Christian Science. I was born with a clubfoot which, according to the physician, would leave me abnormal the rest of my life unless a surgical operation was performed. This operation, the physician said, might or might not be successful.

Having been disappointed many times in the past by medical treatment and having once experienced a healing through Christian Science, my mother decided to rely on God alone for my healing. Through her own independent study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was soon completely healed. I have since competed in football, basketball, baseball, and track in the secondary schools and have participated four years in collegiate swimming, winning all-conference honors.

Throughout my school experience, I was a mediocre student. I studied very hard to obtain a B average and then sometimes fell short of my goal. However, between grades ten and eleven, I decided to read Science and Health from cover to cover. My only motive was to learn more of God. I was surprised to find that when I returned to school I maintained the highest possible marks for the remaining two years without studying as hard as before.
