"You are God's perfect child," were the first words spoken to me by a friend as she entered the room where I was lying in bed for the ninth day, suffering from nervous exhaustion.

Some time before this, she had told me of her healing in Christian Science of a serious heart condition. She also spoke of the quietness of the Christian Science church services. I had always believed in healing through prayer, but the churches that I had attended left me with a depressed feeling rather than the uplifted thought that comes with a deeper understanding of God.

When my husband stated that it was time to call in a doctor, I requested that he call this friend instead. She came and talked with me for about fifteen minutes, then asked if I would read a book that she had. This I agreed to do. It was Science and Health by our Leader. When she left, I felt more relaxed than at any time for several years. I read the chapter on Prayer. I knew then what my religion would be from that time on.
