The Good Things of Life
"Material things are short-lived. It is the ideas of which
the things hint that live on"
There is almost universal reaching out on the part of men and women for the good things of life. Not always is there agreement about what these good things are. Nevertheless, people yearn for what they think of as good. But do they think seriously about what the good things are? If they are asked what good things they want, what would they say? Would they be more inclined to the things themselves rather than to the good to which the things can only point? Material things are short-lived. It is the ideas of which the things hint that live on. Reality is eternal.
