Christian Science came to me...
Christian Science came to me at a time when I knew nothing about it, and I was healed.
About four weeks after the birth of our first son, I became very ill with a fever. The doctor who attended me at the time of the baby's birth was called in. He examined me and advised my husband to take me immediately to the hospital. He also said that poisoning had gone through my body. The second night I was there, the doctor called my husband to the hospital to tell him I needed an operation immediately. My husband asked if it would save my life, and the doctor then told him he would take no responsibility for my life. My husband then told him not to operate. I was not expected to live.
My husband's mother was interested in Christian Science; so he went to her to ask if Science would help me. She explained to him that he could ask a Christian Science practitioner for help. He did this and went to see her that evening. She gave him a passage to read from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The practitioner asked him in particular to memorize it.
