"The earth is the Lord's"
There are artists who have shown us the beauties of earth, who have made us love common things, who have portrayed for us the struggles of earth's peoples, the victories and defeats of individuals. They have shown us the goodness of men's hearts— goodness which persists and wins at the lowest as well as at the highest levels of human life.
By showing us that God is Love and that we are in reality the children of Love, Christian Science enables us to appreciate more fully the beauties of earth, to cherish more tenderly the common things, and to rejoice more realistically in humanity's victories over evil. But it does even more. It enables us to demonstrate Love's spiritual beauty in our human experience.
In Psalms (24:1) we read, "The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." That the earth which is the Lord's is not the material earth is indicated by this fact: John, the Revelator, "saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away" (Rev. 21:1).
