When I shyly entered a Christian Science Reading Room...
When I shyly entered a Christian Science Reading Room for the first time, I inquired about the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which was mentioned many times in a copy of the Sentinel that I had been reading avidly for several weeks.
The attendant asked me if I was looking for healing, and this brought a quick, surprised, "Oh, no!" from me, because I could not have been more joyful or well, I thought. It was the wonderful picture of God as Love, which had been presented to me in the Sentinel, that I wanted to know more about.
However, my subsequent study for several years, in which time I have applied my current understanding of Science to every phase of my life, has increased my joyfulness and well-being to such an extent that I wish to tell of a healing I had of a physical condition, which had persisted for more than a year. This healing took place before I had read more than two chapters of Science and Health—and I had not thought that I needed healing!
