Higher Academic Attainment

[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]

The student of Christian Science at a college or university is specially equipped for academic success. He understands that the infinite intelligence of divine Mind, God, is his to express as the child of God. His tools of learning are the spiritual ideas which he finds in Mind. These include inspiration, consistency, alertness, efficiency, discernment, integrity, assurance, humility—the list is endless. The Christian Scientist knows that Mind's ideas are substantial, real. He knows that they are ever tangible to human consciousness through the Christ.

Every student's field, whether it is literature, government, physics, or art, is, in truth, mental. The student's mentality, or consciousness, then, is the scene of his success in his studies.

Christian Science teaches that the Christ is ever active within the consciousness of everyone. In the textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 332), "Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness." The Christ enables the student to see and use the divine qualities that will make his work succeed. Learning, understood as seeing and using divine qualities, represents not an accumulation of material facts, but a conscious unfoldment of practical, spiritual concepts.
