I should like to express my...
I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science by sharing some of the blessings it has brought me.
During my school and college years I suffered from extreme sensitiveness, shyness, and a fear of people. My suffering was so great that I felt depressed most of the time. In school I would never give oral reports, take part in discussions, or respond when called upon. This problem continued until I began my first full-time employment. I found myself in a position where it was necessary to face many people at a time, and I was fearful, thinking I could never see this through.
At this point I began working earnestly, as we are taught in Christian Science, to gain a better understanding of God and to see man as His perfect idea, as "that which possesses no life, intelligence, nor creative power of his own, but reflects spiritually all that belongs to his Maker" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 475). I saw clearly for the first time that fear and timidity are no part of God, and therefore they can be no part of man.
