RADIO PROGRAM No. 44 - "Now is the day of salvation"

HOST: For centuries men have yearned for a day of salvation. They looked with hope to a far-off day when wrongs would be righted, burdens of sin and suffering put off, and men would find eternal peace and harmony.

In today's busy and troubled world, thoughts about salvation seem to be pushed far into the background. A prominent theologian, J. N. Hartt, some time ago made this observation in The Yale Review: "Men of this age do not seem to have the ramparts of heaven in their sight. They conduct life habitually as though earth were the only chance for fulfillment; and concede that even here the odds are stacked against them." He goes on to say that men today "have enormous difficulty recognizing anything they really are or want to become."

I think many people would like to know more of God and more of salvation. But they wonder if salvation really can have much bearing on their lives today.
