More than thirty years ago I was healed of two serious ailments simply by reading the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
Intestinal sluggishness had persisted since childhood and lasted about ten or fifteen years. It had developed to a degree termed by the doctor then in attendance as paralysis of the lower intestine, and the removal of a portion of the intestine was recommended.
During the years I had tried many types of treatment. At the time I began studying Christian Science, I had been under constant medical treatment and on a rigid diet for about two years, without any improvement in the condition. Moreover, I had become despondent over family problems. Then I was led to make a New Year's resolution to read regularly for one year the Bible Lessons, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, consisting of citations from the Bible and from Science and Health.
