Signs of the Times
St. Louis Globe-Democrat
Earl L. Douglass in the Sunday School Lesson column of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat St. Louis, Missouri
Among the religious leaders of our Lord's day the question was often discussed as to which of the many commandments in the Old Testament was the most important.... Jesus declared that loving God with all the heart, soul, and mind was the first and greatest commandment.
It is interesting that Jesus dropped from the original commandment the word "might" and substituted the word "mind." Jesus believed that a person should use his mind in his religious experience, and those who today claim that religion is exclusively a matter of faith and not of reason have the testimony of the Lord's word against them.
