Our Leader. Mrs. Eddy, says on page 406 of Science and Health, '"The Bible contains the recipe for all healing." My gratitude for her is unbounded because she has illumined the Scriptures through her works, and I should like to tell of four healings brought about through the application of Christian Science.

At a time when, although I had begun to study Science, I was training as a medical nurse, I became ill with a heart difficulty. As a resident nurse, I had no alternative but to be warded. The authorities insisted on a specialist being called. My condition was so serious that the specialist said I could not live for more than an hour. At my request he agreed not to give me any medication whatever, telling the matron that I was beyond human aid anyway.

In the meantime I had asked a practitioner for Christian Science treatment, and I could still think. I saw clearly that God is man's Life and that He is All. I rested in this truth and remembered nothing else until after a few hours. Then I opened my eyes, conscious that God is my Life. Christian Science treatment was continued, and six weeks after this experience I was completely healed. I have enjoyed normal health ever since.

A son came home from high school one day suffering from a distressing and painful condition. The illness was so serious that I prayed all night, and the next morning I asked a practitioner for treatment for him. The nature of the illness was not discussed in the home, but from my former experience in medical nursing, I believe it would be called rheumatic fever. The boy was almost helpless, but we steadfastly held to the fact of God's allness, of His omnipotence and omnipresence.

The next morning there was such an improvement that the boy got out of bed to talk to the practitioner, although he returned to bed for the rest of that day. The third morning he went back to school, healed. The prayerful work continued for another few days, and no aftereffects appeared.

Our elder son had an accident while cycling and was brought home in an alarming state. I immediately denied the reality of the material evidence, and a practitioner was called. My husband, who was not then interested in Science, insisted on examination by a doctor. The doctor said that there was a broken bone and that the arm would have to be X-rayed the next day. He also predicted three weeks in hospital and a six-week period in plaster. But no medication was applied.

The next day the X-ray picture showed that there had been a fracture but that it was correctly set. It was also found that there was a bad dislocation of the arm and that ligaments had been torn. These latter conditions were healed in the fifteen minutes it took to get us from the radiologist's rooms to the doctor's consulting room. The healing was complete, and since then the boy has not had any trouble from the arm.

On another occasion we were traveling in the country far from telephones. One of our sons complained of not feeling well. We worked prayerfully in Science, but there seemed no response to our prayers. The friends we were staying with were not Christian Scientists and became so alarmed, since the boy was losing consciousness, that they insisted on getting a doctor. He said that the child was seriously ill with pneumonia. But no medication was applied, and I asked to be left alone with the boy.

I let go of a sense of possessiveness, and I said to God, "Father, I thank Thee that he is Thy son." I knew that whatever the material evidence seemed to say, he was alive, safe, and perfect as the expression of God. I spent the evening studying the Bible Lesson from the Quarterly.

At about ten o'clock, although the boy's physical condition was unchanged, I was filled with a sense of peace. I went to sleep, and at seven o'clock in the morning I heard him saying, "I can speak and breathe, and I am hungry." In fifteen minutes he was outside, completely healed.
