Mrs. Eddy found words to convey...

Mrs. Eddy found words to convey to humanity the grand revelation of Christian Science, and I should surely find words to express my gratitude for living in this age and receiving the benefit of her great love for mankind.

During the economic depression of the early nineteen-thirties everything seemed to be going backward for me. I had spent almost all I had on medicines and treatments for a severe case of eczema, which had not been relieved, when a woman rented our cottage next door that had been vacant for sixteen months. She was a Christian Science practitioner.

She had compassion on me and asked if I had thought of trying Christian Science for the eczema. I asked what it could do for such a condition. Later she asked if I would like to have her give me a treatment, and I was so despondent that I wept and said, "I don't care what you do for me."

After the first treatment I slept through the night without having to get up to change the dressing for the first time in nearly a year. The practitioner continued to pray for me, and in about fourteen days my skin was as clear and fresh as a child's.

I was not sure how the healing was accomplished; but my gratitude and joy were unbounded, and I at once began to study the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly, which are made up of citations from the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'" by Mary Baker Eddy, for I wished so much to tell others about the wonders of God's love.

"The scientific statement of being," on page 468 of Science and Health, opened the door to the way of Life for me. The statement begins: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." The Beatitudes had a new meaning for me, and I wanted to obey Jesus' command (Matt. 5:16), "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, grateful to share in church committee work and to have taught in the Sunday School.

I have had healings of many physical difficulties. A broken collarbone was healed without being set or bandaged, and at another time I was healed of blood poisoning.

I am grateful for our practitioners and lecturers, and I am very grateful to God for our Exemplar, Christ Jesus, and for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. —(Mrs.) Katherine Marie Chun, Oakland, California.
