"Speak the word only, and my...
"Speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." So spoke the centurion (Matt. 8:8). The authority of the Word as understood in Christian Science was the means of my being healed of cancer. I had been told by a practitioner to hold closely to "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The first two sentences of it read: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." I did faithfully ponder the statement, and when the practitioner returned to me in one week I was healed.
Another healing has been a source of great joy to me. A heavy piece of wood struck my lower lip and split it open. A member of the household saw my need and boarded a bus to go to the home of a practitioner to ask for treatment for me. When she found the practitioner not at home, she began to do prayerful work for me herself. Upon her arrival home, the healing had already taken place. This was proof to me that a correct understanding of God is always a healing understanding.
A more recent healing of arthritis is a source of gratitude. The moment I asked for treatment I felt a change take place, and after one visit and three letters from the practitioner I was healed. This healing has better fitted me to face the future fearlessly, and I have come to see many spiritual truths I had not discovered before.
