Reaching the Receptive Thought
One of the valuable assets of a Christian Science Reading Room is its display window. The open books and periodicals, when conveniently arranged at eye level, silently and lovingly offer the Christ, Truth, to those who are ready to partake of its blessings. As the passer-by pauses to read the prayerfully selected messages, interest is aroused, reluctance dispelled, thought enlightened, and erroneous concepts are replaced with right ideas.
Many inspiring reports of fruitage as a result of effective window displays are received by the Reading Room Division.
A salesman seeing the Children's Prayer plaque in the window of a Reading Room went in to buy it for his little girl. He told the librarian that he had had a similar plaque when he was a child, and although he had lost interest in the teachings of Christian Science, the window display reminded him of all the good he had received as a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School. He said he was going home to get out his books and renew his study.
