A few years ago I began to have pain in the upper right side of my body. Every attack was more severe and would occur when there was a family get-together or some other social activity planned. At just such a time, while I was preparing a picnic lunch, the pain came again. I turned to God in prayer as well as I could; but since I did not want to tell my family, who are not Christian Scientists, that I was not feeling well, I thought it best to call a practitioner. It was necessary for me to call her three times before relief came, but then it was immediate and complete. After I had called the second time, my husband came in and insisted very strongly that we postpone the picnic. I asked him to please wait just a little while. Then I really had to love more.

After I had made the third call, this is what came to me: It does not matter how many people are walking the floor and telling me what to do, I cannot be deprived of the healing power of Truth. I knew that both the practitioner and I were acknowledging the power of Truth at that very moment. The pain ceased almost instantly, and everything went on as planned. There was a slight soreness for a few hours; but that disappeared, and the pain has not returned since.

On another occasion I became ill in the middle of the night with abdominal pain and vomiting. I prayed with every spiritual truth that came to me; but, gaining no relief, I called a practitioner at daylight. In about fifteen minutes there was a great relief, but I asked her to stand by me with her prayers until the condition was healed completely, and she did. I remained calm and quiet throughout the day, and of course very grateful, and that was the end of the difficulty.
