PERMANENCE

In Truth no hint of time's decay
Can mar validity and scope;
Reality is safe, unscarred.
When thought ascends above frail hope
To certainty of ceaseless life
As God's inviolate decree,
Men see beyond the loss or blight—
Beyond all shifting transiency.

The Master knew the Father's will
As pure, imperishable good
Untouched by sorrow's measurement,
As peace—unblemished brotherhood.
With sure, undeviating strength,
Transcending laws of mortal span,
He heeded God's supreme behest
And proved the permanence of man.
