Many years ago I was a public school teacher for several years, and during that time I was under a doctor's care for nervous and functional difficulties. Finally the doctor advised me to go to a sanatorium and take a water cure, which I did at the close of the school year. I was given the prescribed treatment—baths, massages, and electrical treatment.

I expected to return home in September and resume teaching. However, instead of being able to return I was much worse, so much so that in November I sent for my father to take me home. For about five years I continued to have medical treatment but with no results. Then my mother, while away from home, attended some Wednesday evening testimony meetings in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. When she came home she told me there was no need for me to be in such a nervous and depressed condition and that Christian Science could help me.
