Even though I had a loving family life, I was still lonely and self-conscious and suffering from a chronic bladder condition which had prevented me from joyfully doing anything away from home and which materia medica did not help and Christian Science treatment had till then only alleviated. I never attended a Christian Science Sunday School, but my mother taught me what she knew of Science; however, I did not appreciate it at the time.

I had been married several years and had a young daughter when I began to suffer periodically from tonsillitis. Upon my mother's request I turned to Science for help. When she visited me during one of these sieges, she encouraged me to stand up and say the illness was a lie. After she left I did that and was amazed at the result: the fever and sore throat left, never to return, and with such suddenness that I knew God, Truth, had healed me.
