Each day I am more grateful for...

Each day I am more grateful for the demonstrable, powerful truths which unfold as we strive to grow closer to God through Christian Science.

My mother had lost two infants prematurely and was told that another pregnancy would probably cost her life. So when she was expecting me, she turned to Science for help, and the birth was normal. A few years later she enrolled me in a Christian Science Sunday School, and I had the Wonderful privilege of attending it from an early age.

Although I did indulge in social drinking and smoking during college days and for a while after I graduated, the light came when I was faced with an extremity which truly was God's opportunity. My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, was overseas during World War II, and in deference to his wishes, our baby daughter was having regular checkups by a local physician. A condition which developed in one of her eyes caused it to become swollen, discolored, and then to close completely. The doctor told me to call his office in a few days to make an appointment for a hospital room and surgery.
