As a boy I attended a Christian Science Sunday School, but I drifted away from its teachings upon entering the naval service at the age of eighteen. The branch church I attended at the time presented me with Service Editions of the Bible and of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I do not remember reading them at all. As I now look back I realize that many times I would have been saved much worry and fear if I had studied them.

About seven years ago I began to experience pain which made me fearful that I had heart trouble. An appointment was made with a doctor for an examination. After checking me, he told me my heart was not normal and that he would like me to take an electrocardiogram test, which I did a few days later. He also gave me sleeping pills to take since I was not able to sleep because of constant fear and worry. They did not help me in the least.
