As a result of being reared by parents who were Christian Scientists, I have never had medication of any kind. I was early enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School. One of my Sunday School teachers always emphasized the fact that God is Love and that He protects man. This came to me one Thanksgiving Day when I was riding with my in a carriage drawn by a team of horses. The horses became frightened and were running away. I was frightened, but the phrase, "God is Love and protection," came to my thought, and I repeated it aloud. This broke the fear, and others declared spiritual truths too. Within a few minutes the team slowed to a walk.

During my childhood we lived on a farm. One day when my brother and I were playing barefooted on a strawstack, he inadvertently thrust a hayfork prong through my foot. My parents helped me to do prayerful work in Science, and the foot was healed in only a few days. There were no aftereffects.

I have seen many proofs of God's care for members of my family. Broken bones, pneumonia, defective eyesight, and other conditions have been healed through the application of the truths of Christian Science.
